Renovation / New Build
65 apartments
Contract value: £4,000,000.00
Listed and in a conservation area, this warehouse building was constructed in the early part of the 20th century. The building lies to the rear of the Drill Hall and the 2 schemes were designed to flow together creating permeability through the site.

The project involved extensive negotiations with the planning department, conservation officer and English Heritage leading to the scheme eventually gaining approval at appeal. Great care was taken to ensure that that the 17th century remains of the original sugar refinery were protected beneath the new building. The original gable wall of the warehouse was retained and incorporated into the scheme which led to the design of this unusual shaped building.
